Team Vibe Introduction
Umano believes that in order to be high performing, teams need to consider both productive practices as well as engaging experience of how they practice as a team.
Whilst the facts presented from metrics act as an important element to making any team’s productive practices observable, they often are only telling one side of the performance story. A fuller picture is created when teams are empowered to share their feelings as context for their engagement and experience of being a team.
Combining objective facts that present from metrics along with the subjective feelings from the Team Vibe pulse survey enable teams to inspect all aspects of their team performance. From this wholistic baseline, teams are much better equipped to take precise action needed to adapt and continuously evolve into their highest performing selves.
What is the Team Vibe?
Team Vibe is a poll and open text survey that captures the feelings and sentiment from questions related to the engagement and experience of team performance. The intention is to keep it short, simple and regular. We recommend conducting the Vibe as part of your Retro ceremony, in what ever cadence that is for you. Questions can be answered as a poll rating or with open text responses. The team's average poll result per interval is tracked and presented on the Reviewer card in the team’s Active Cycle Hub with all other Engagement metrics on the Tracker Report. It is also tracked over time on a chart in the Team Vibe tab in the Reviewer.
Creating a Team Vibe
A new Team Vibe can be created within the Active Cycle Reviewer once a new iteration has commenced.
From the Reviewer hub, select the Team Vibe tab and then 'Create Poll' for the selected interval.
Questions can be added by:
creating a new question
selecting either an existing question you have previously used from the Library, or from one of Umano's suggestions that can also be found here
copying the same questions from last interval by selecting ‘Import from previous’
When adding a question to the interval’s Team Vibe, the creator can select whether they want the question to be answered as a rating or as an open-ended question.
Questions can be re-sorted in order by selecting the arrow up icon to move the question to an earlier position in the sequence, or the arrow down icon for the opposite.
The Team Vibe requires a minimum of 3 poll questions to be added so that results can be plotted on the Team Vibe chart and tracked over time.
Questions can be edited once created until the time the first team member completes the Team Vibe.
Answering the Team Vibe
Once the Team Vibe has been created, team members can complete it by:
selecting ‘Take Team Vibe’ on the Reviewer card on their Active Cycle Hub
selecting the Team Vibe tab in their interval Reviewer
selecting on the Team Vibe URL link created and shared by the Team Manager.
In the sprit of creating a culture of accountability, responses are attributed to each team member that completes the Team Vibe.
Team members can complete the Team Vibe once it has been created by the Team manager for a specific interval, and prior to the following interval closing.
It is not compulsory for all team members to reply for the Team Vibe to close.
