Umano is on a mission to help teams continuously improve. In addition to providing you with workflow metrics and pulse-check surveys to measure the success of your team’s agile practices and engagement, Umano wants to help your team take action to continuously improve. The key to growth and evolving as a team comes from not just learning, but taking informed action and observing whether that action delivers the intended impact to optimise your team’s way of working. After all, it’s repeated informed action that will build successful working practices.

Ojo is Umano’s automated AI-driven assistant that draws insights from your metrics and provides guidance on where to further investigate and take action to level-up. Ojo means ‘eye’ in Spanish. As such, we like to think of Ojo as an objective and extra eye in your team to help you see how you work, look beyond what you might not be able to see or simply point out the obvious as to what’s working and what’s not.

Ojo’s guidance comes in the form of:

  1. Observations that highlight when you’re achieving results above or below your usual way of working.

  2. Callouts that name the drivers that are most affecting significant changes to your performance, for example naming the number of inherited tickets as a driver for your team’s Completion Rate.

  3. Suggested actions that point the team in the right direction to investigate more deeply into the context of what’s most affecting your performance or modify ways of working.

What do we mean by 'significant'?

These are the metrics that carry the highest weighted rankings in changed scores, formed by observing the current metric score relative to the deviation of your team’s usual performance and your team’s performance trend for that metric.

Ojo’s insights are embedded into your jobs to be done for planning, tracking and reviewing in your agile cycles of work.

Here’s where Ojo guides your teams in your workspace in Umano

Team Overview Page

Your Team overview page is your workspace landing page. This is where you access any of your team spaces by selecting a Team Card.

On your Team Card, Ojo publishes metrics to pay attention to. These are the metrics that have significantly improved or declined within your current Active Cycle. This helps guide which teams may require immediate investigation and support.

Any changes considered less than significant are not published here, as the aim is to reduce noise and amplify where to focus.

Planner

Your Planner is your sprint calculator, helping your team build more accurate, predictable plans based on your usual way of working. It takes into account your capacity, work being carried over (including an estimated percentage of work left to complete these items), the number of new items being assigned, work days and number of team members. This ensures you can build a sprint plan that sets your teams up for success, better aligns expectations with your stakeholders with what you can realistically deliver and removes optimism bias that comes from teams thinking they can do more than is realistically possible.

As you prepare your new Sprint* (denoted by the pink ‘Future’ status icon next to the sprint name), Ojo compares your Team Plan (read live from your new sprint within your issue tracker) with your usual sprint composition. By taking into account what work is still incomplete and assessing how much is left to complete, Ojo offers guidance on the number of new issues or estimates you might assign within your team’s remaining capacity, along with a predicted time to complete the amount of work, both inherited and new. Your team can view whether your sprint plan is over planned, under planned and what variance may exist to help you refine for a more balanced sprint.

*Note: future sprints will only appear in Umano if they have start and end dates defined in your Issue Tracker.

Tracker

Your tracker summarises sprint performance, updated daily, across all of your workflow, review and engagement metrics so your team can know exactly where they’re at and course correct if needs be to achieve their sprint goals.

Ojo deepens your team’s understanding of how they’re performing on a daily basis by highlighting:

  1. Any variance in improvement or decline across all metrics, denoted by arrows up or down and the percentage of change in score.

  2. Significant changes in a score highlighted by a Thumbs Up icon for improvement, and Flag icon for decline where a Call Out exists in the metric’s supporting chart, naming the drivers affecting your performance.

  3. Highlighted icons indicate the most significant score changes, with additional insight that can be found in your support metric chart.

On the 'Improve' and 'Master' plans, you can select the ‘ojo’ button on top right of your Tracker will reveal the Ojo Insights Stream, a panel that showcases all of Ojo’s related insights for that sprint, updated daily.

Metric Chart Pages - Call Outs

During your sprint, your team can dive deeper into the context of what’s affecting their metric scores by viewing related Metric Charts. When a significant difference occurs between your current and your usual performance scores, Ojo presents a ‘Call Out’, naming the drivers that most have affected that particular metric score, along with related insights for deeper understanding.

Reviewer

As you prepare to close your sprint and review how your team performed, theOjo Insights page within the Reviewer helps you bring the facts into your retrospective conversation around what you did well and should keep doing, and which metrics declined and therefore may need to take a closer look.

The metrics presented here carry the highest weighted rankings in changed scores, formed by observing the current metric score relative to the deviation of your team’s usual performance and your team’s performance trend for that metric.

Observations are denoted by the ‘eye’ icon. Suggested actions and investigation is denoted by the ‘magnifying glass’ icon.

If the insight is for a sub-metric, then the sub-metric name is displayed in a grey shadow box, as illustrated in the example below.

In the metrics presented under ‘See More,’ you see all metrics that significantly deviated from usual, where significantly deviated from usual performance is determined by the difference between the current score and the usual score being larger than the standard deviation, and having drivers that are significantly deviated from their usual.

If a metric is significantly deviated but doesn’t have any impacting driver changes, they are not displayed.
