Goals

Set a metric based gaol to improve your agility outcomes, like speed or progress.

Updated over a week ago

A Goal is a target score/score range for a metric.

To enable focus and prioritisation only one goal per a metric (e.g.. Completion Rate (Issues)) and/or metric subset (e.g. Completion Rate (Story Points)) can exist.

A Goal may have Guardrails and /or Practices linked to it, but they are not required.

Your Goal hub is a central page listing all of the ‘In Progress’, ‘Achieved’ or ‘Closed Goals for your current Macro Cycle.

Create a Goal:

Select the ‘Create New Goal’ button on the top right of your Goal hub page.

The goal creation widget will then guide you through the following steps:

1. Select your metric; Umano will then display your Usual, Peak and Current value for the selected metric to help guide setting your goal target

2. Define your Goal target value

3. As an option, set a ‘Target date’ by when you would like this goal to be achieved by your team.

4. Finalise this set-up process by selecting ‘Create’ at the bottom of this widget.

Your Goal will then be displayed on your Goal hub.

Goals can not be set retroactively, ie. they apply only from the moment of creation.

Edit a Goal

By selecting the three dots on the top right of each goal card, you can edit your goal.

The goal creation widget will open for you to change the target value, set a new date and save changes. These will apply from the active cycle of that team onwards.

Monitor Goal Progress

Go to your Macro Cycle Tracker and select the relevant metric chart to view your team’s goal progress.

On this page, you’ll see the following Goal behaviours displayed beneath the chart:.

  • A Goal is ‘hit’ if the interval metric score reaches the goal target at interval closure.

  • A Goal is ‘achieved’ if the usual metric score reaches the goal target at interval closure.

Any change in a goal’s target value after it was created will display in your metric’s macro cycle chart. The Goal line ends on your chart when it has been achieved or closed.
